I’m not gonna die now “You’re not going anywhere” You can throw the last punches Standoff on the top stair Why don’t you go away? Why don’t you go away? Why don’t you go away? Why don’t you go away? Open mouthed and soaked in shadows Catch me when I fall out my window It has to happen collectively I wanna jump in anyway Oh oh oh! I won’t forget the things you’ve done for me. Oh no, I won’t forget!

Mod Anna 02:51
He fell like gravity But it came up too quick Stop cuz this is serious We laughed and they just fell dead down They didn’t get the joke We set the stage for an empire to rise from the smoke They said, they said to leave the streets empty But that’s not what happened That’s not what happened Street tar got hotter That’s not what happened Take it to the tune Onward to ask you how Take it to the tune Onward to ask you how It doesn’t work that way Hey kids, come out to play We’ll close school doors forever And smash their heads together Take it to the tune Onward to ask you how Take it to the tune Onward to ask you how It doesn’t work that way Our teachers ran away We’ll close school doors forever And smash their heads together I always wanted to go West!

Dead Girls 02:12
It’s a dead girl world! I wanna know, how did you get so clean? Why don’t you come back, why don’t you come back to cool black? Do you live in a washing machine? Why don’t you come back, why don’t you come back to cool black? I wanna know, how did you get so clean? Why don’t you come back, why don’t you come back to cool black? Her pretty odors are really fatal But her sweet smells won’t stick on me I’m getting dizzy on perfume My world ends with strawberry shampoo The dead girls go to my school The dead girls go to my school Wow! All the dead girls go to my school! It’s a natural disaster Bite the adolescent fever It’s a natural disaster Bite the adolescent fever It’s a natural disaster Bite the adolescent fever All the dead girls go to my school! (I know) Yeah!

Follow me to a dark room Yeah, let’s rot our minds Do you want a piece of it? Don’t you want to be a part of this youth crime? Do you want a piece of it? Don’t you want to be a part of this youth crime? She’ll close her eyes to everything To preserve her sterile mind Her sterile mind Tonight, history’s gonna fall on your bedroom floor Oh, yeah! We’re going down! Watch out we’re going down!

Eyes fixed on a distant planet She’s on a mission to make it to the end of the hall alive.

Direct me to the crowd Transform my world with dynamite Oh, no I’m not like you tonight Oh, no I’m not like you tonight I’ll tell you something I’ll tell you something You never spoke a word that I know And now I wanna go Sound around moves on so relentlessly It’s more than a meditative energy And rules don’t mean so much to me It’s more than a meditative energy And rules don’t mean so much to me It’s more than a meditative energy I’ve had enough, I’ve had enough patience Yeah, well I’ve lost my mind But it slinks in every hour Why are you so stuck like glue? So insistent When I’ve got a mind When I’ve got a mind All this is just a great big waste of my time Test and draw connections Make corrections I’m not going to I’m not going to I don’t need any of this Cuz I can close imagine Soaked in energy Soaked in energy Not so numb Up so high Feels like heaven I’m already inside I came back in in black and blind And it feels like heaven in shock it feels like heaven in shock it feels like heaven in shock it feels like heaven Feels like heaven, yeah

The day came when my town was too small Visited by a gang of strangers Oh mean! So mean they looked, we said Oh mean! So mean they looked, we said They rode in on motorcycles And oh, I wished I could go The situation was sticky In a secret mission The day my parents fell To the gang I will belong to To the gang I will belong to To the gang I will belong to To the gang I will belong to When they have fallen I leave town on a big machine I thought I was cross-eyed forever.

about

“…nimble and brutal and raw … pointed enough to hit right at the breastbone but abstract enough that they never felt like they were preaching.”
- Jes Skolnik, Bandcamp Daily

“Constants:
1. That first band brilliance, where the members learn to play their instruments at the same time as they learn to play together, building a telepathy that lets them lean into drastic switches and explosions
2. When the songs address the mundane, specific horrors of life ("strawberry shampoo") with such direness & conviction that the inexpressible becomes immediate, universal
3. Songs that elbow and shoulder, songs that get inside and see me jumping on the bed and pushing over all the furniture in the house, songs that are infectious in every sense of that word

If a band does even one of these things I am bound to fall in love. Pitchman, a quartet of teenagers in the early 90s, managed to do all three in one brisk year.

- Ethan Swan, Jabs

PITCHMAN was a short-lived, frenzied, and fiercely determined high school punk rock band whose life spanned one year in 1992-1993 around Washington DC.

Aaron, Gabe and Matt had been playing together in various forms since meeting in the magnet program at Eastern Middle School but only gelled as a band with the introduction of Drée. As both the singer and the only girl in the band, she exploded all preconceptions with a wild and fearless stage presence that was equally so far beyond her years and squarely testament to the raw power of being 16 years old.

The band played less than 20 shows with highlights including sharing bills with Circus Lupus, Born Against, Slant Six, God is My Co-Pilot, Cupid Car Club, and comrade kid bands Smooch and The Vaporizers. They played St. Stephens Church, APE Embassy, Club Heaven, basements, the Mountain Lodge, and more.

Their first show was in September 1992 and they broke up in August 1993 when Aaron went to college. Members quickly went on to other projects including Mob Action, Meta-Matics, Idiot Symptoms, and others.

Their sole recorded appearance was on a small-batch cassette compilation entitled Rodeo Riders put out by Kim Thompson in early 1993, including a version of Shrinker from the same session as track 12.
